Our Purpose

The Vinson-Owen Parents Association works in partnership with the faculty and administration of the Vinson-Owen School to improve the quality of education for all the students. The purpose of the Association is to enrich student experiences in school through its support and/or sponsorship of enrichment programs and community-building activities. In keeping with the principles and ideals of the community, the Association also defines key issues or concerns to address and serves as an advocate for the parents.

Officer Roles

The officers carry out responsibilities as outlined in the Association’s Constitution and By-Laws. Each role is essential in supporting the mission of the Vinson-Owen Parent Association and enhancing the school community.

Presidents

The Co-Presidents provide collaborative leadership for the Association. They facilitate meetings, coordinate officer and committee efforts, and act as the primary liaisons with the Vinson-Owen School’s faculty and administration.

Treasury

The Treasury oversees the Association’s financial operations. This includes managing the budget, tracking expenses, issuing payments and reimbursements, and ensuring that funds raised through the Annual Fund and other fundraising efforts are allocated responsibly. The Treasury supports a variety of student-centered programs such as Enrichment, V-O on Skates, V-O on Stage, Jr. Authorfest, and other community-building events.

Recording Secretary

The Recording Secretaries are responsible for maintaining accurate and thorough records of Association meetings. This two-person team ensures consistent documentation by alternating coverage of morning and evening meetings.
