Used Book Fair

The fair overlaps with the 3 days of Parent/Teacher Conferences in the Fall and is open for students to shop during the school day and caregivers to shop while at school for conferences. The fair allows students to practice independence, apply their math skills, learn about reuse and most importantly enable their love for reading.

Donations for the Used Book Fair are collected at V-O in the weeks prior to the fair. In 2022, we exceeded our fundraising goal by 70%, raising $850! All proceeds are divided amongst the grades, enabling purchasing of new books for class libraries, with all remaining books being donated. In 2022, donations went to the Woburn Food Bank and More Than Words, which is a non-profit book store in Boston that empowers youth to take charge of their lives by taking charge of a business.

Scholastic Book Fair

The Book Fair is an annual event that raises money for the Vinson-Owen Library. The fair takes place in early Spring during school conferences. It serves as the major source of funding for the Library.

Overview - Scholastic Book Fair

The committee coordinates with the current vendor - Scholastic, assists the Librarian on book choices, helps market the event, coordinates teacher wish-lists, establishes the schedule for volunteers, drives setup and teardown and facilitates on-site coordination and troubleshooting for the event.
